| Farewell Party. An enjoyable party was given recently by Mrs. P. H. Mason at her residence at Island Bay, to bid "bon voyage" to Mrs. D. Gledhill, who is leaving for England. Items by Miss Mclntyre, Mesdames Ewen, Duncan Baylis, and Hibberd were much appreciated, the accompanist being Mrs Howard Cook. A presentation to Mrs. Gledhill accompanies the expressions of goodwill from her friends, and a bouquet was given her by Miss Peggy Newman. Mrs. Gledhill acknowledged the kindnesses shown her, and the serving of a dainty tea concluded the party |

A GIFT TEA
A delightful gift tea was given by Mrs. E. C. Hands at the D.I.C. yesterday in honour of Miss Molly Phillips, whose marriage takes place this week. The tea tables were artistically arranged with baskets of red roses, and a posy of red buds was presented to the guest of honour. Mrs. Hands was wearing a floral georgette frock in brown tones, beneath a brown taffeta coat, and a matching picture hat of brown. Miss Phillips wore a navy and white French crepe frock with a navy taffeta coat and picture hat. Those present included Mesdames W.-Phillips, J. Osborne, T. F. Walshe, Newman, J. A. Foster, H. Stringer, Sydney Smith, McDougall, Brocklehurst, J. Hamilton. Wells, Kessell, P. H. Mason, and Miss Keys. |

| Bridge for Plunket Funds. A very pleasant bridge party was given recently by Mrs. J. Dunn at her home at Island Bay to augment the funds of the local sub-committee of the Plunket Society. The prize for the top score was won by Mrs, Bew, and that for the "concealed number" by Mrs. Hindle. The consolation prize was, a charming bouquet of spring flowers. A dainty afternoon tea was served, and the party was an exceptionally pleasant one. Those. present included Mesdames Seabrook-Mason, J: Mason, Blathwayt, Fenton, Buckland, Stewart, Kerr, Valentine, Ross, Cook, Gatehouse, Chambers, P. H. Mason, Hindle, Allen, Kane, Dilloway, Johnson, Lake, Bew, McKenzie, Wing, Clarke, Lepper, Nichol, Hughes, O'Brien, and Misses Howden, Wiltshire, and Marshall. |

SURPRISE PARTY
A surprise party was taken recently to the home of Mrs. P. H. Mason, arranged by the many young friends of her daughter, Miss Nancy Mason. The hostesses were Misses R. White, B. Hurren, and D. Spence. Interesting competitions, games, and dancing were held, and solos were rendered by Miss Proctor. Mr. A. Dellow and Mr. G. Higgins were accompanists. After supper, Miss B. Hurren, on behalf of the party, presented Miss Nancy Mason with a hat case as a token of their friendship. |

- FAREWELL EVENING
On the eve of her departure for Auckland, Mrs. P. H. Mason was tendered a farewell evening at the home of Mrs. Gledhill, Island Bay. Mrs. J. Ewen and Mrs. Gledhill were joint hostesses and duets and solos were rendered by Mrs. J. Duncan and-Mrs. Ewen, the accompanist being Mrs. H. Cook. As a token of the esteem in which Mrs. Mason is held by her friends, she was presented with a gift of crystalware.
